Process Ontology of the Ionian Presocratics.

«This monograph is an attempt to reconstruct some important parts of the ontology of the Ionians. As such, this is a topic-centred monograph, though not a ‘concept study’: it is not a concept study of change or process in early Greek philosophy. It is rather a thesis on a particular ontology. I intend to show that there is evidence that indicates a wholly non-Aristotelian ontology prior to Aristotle’s categories and terminology. In this pre-Aristotelian ontology the notions of process, change and event are primary and are expressed throgh concrete terms. I will suggest that becoming was the central notion of reality before Parmenides, and that the archai of the Ionians were not Urstoff or material substrata, but powerful manifestations of transformation.»
