«Surah 107 must be one of the oldest Surahs in the Koran. ‘He who denieth the religion’ is a pagan who denies the religion of Muhammed. Muhammed could not understand such a denial, for he did not distinguish between his religion and the religion. But the Lord reveals to him that those who deny his religion are people who even commit moral sins and thus reveal themselves as sinners on the whole. They are praying, as it was customary to do even among pagan Meccans. But they do not care for their prayers, which are being performed only to be seen.»
