«The three medieval altar frontals from the twelfth-century church of Tingelstad, Hadeland, now in the Universitetets Oldsaksamling (University Museum of National Antiquities), Oslo, were conserved and restored and their materials and technique of execution analysed in 1961—1968. Because of the common provenance of the three panels, and because of their markedly related technical and stylistic character, we have chosen to present the results of this work jointly in one publication.»
