«In the United States today, conservatism and Darwinism are usually thought of as in conflict with each other. In this dissertation, against the familiar background of widespread conservative antipathy toward Darwinism and evolutionary science, I will show that there exists an understudied breadth in American conservative intellectuals’ attempts to deal constructively with evolution in the neo-Darwinian paradigm. The overarching question I pose is how neo-Darwinian evolutionary psychology has been and is being used argumentatively in support of conservative ideology in the United States.»
